Baking Greek Favorites

We’ll be making Paximadia (biscotti) in class. Students will also learn how to make Baklava and Kourabiedes. We’ll sample the sweets along with a cup of coffee in class. Plus students will take home some treats and a handout with the recipes. Come and bake some Greek favorites! All ingredients for Greek recipes, mixer, cooling racks, knife, cookie sheets, coffee etc. and handouts for students to take home with the recipes. Beaded Jewelry Making

Learn how to make earrings and bracelet set, with beads, headpins, tiger tail wire, crimp beads and toggle-clasp. Copper and Silver choices. Bird Feeders and Bird Houses, Simple

You will have the opportunity to make 2-4 of some simple bird feeders/bird houses, including: Citrus Bird Feeder, Peanut butter/cheerios feeder, Teacup bird feeder, rustic bird house, gourd bird house, basket bird house Bird seed, yarn, oranges, peanut butter, wooden skewers, pipe cleaners, pine cones, Cheerios, raw peanuts in the shell, ½” copper caps/tubing, threaded dowels, pre-drilled natural gourds, paint brushes, sandpaper, clear spray acrylic, hand pruners, florist wire, moss, grapevine, hangers, wire cutters. Cabins, Lodges and S'Mores

First step for troops planning troop camping experiences. Teaches adults the steps in working with girls to plan and carry out an overnight experience using indoor facilities (lodges, cabins, etc.) with kitchens and indoor bathrooms at council camps as well as other approved camp facilities. In addition, this course covers health and safety considerations, facilities available at council camps, meal planning, kaper charts, equipment and packing. All supplies for fire building and cooking S’mores will be provided by the instructor. Camp Helper

Camp helpers assist the Planning Committee by collecting class rosters and taking photos of classes in progress. You'll walk around camp and see what the classes are doing (this will help you pick which class you want to take next year!). You may also get to do some administrative tasks like filing or stuffing envelopes. Receive a $5 rebate at the end of your session as our thank-you! Ceremonies & Traditions

Do your girls want to take an international trip?  
This course is required for Girl Scout Junior,  Cadette, Senior & Ambassador leaders who may have girls interested in traveling abroad in the next 2 or more years. Learn how to develop a budget that everyone can agree to. Start conversations about what types of agreements you will need to develop (behavior, financial, etc.) and learn what final documents need to be prepared and submitted before you leave the country.

Horseback Riding - Walking Trail Ride

After passing a riding control test in the ring, participants will take a leisurely (walking) trail ride. If you do not pass the control test, you will not be permitted to participate. A barn option will be substituted in case of inclement weather (or participants may request that class fees be refunded or may “donate” fees to the camp for horse programs). Horse, helmet provided. Learn rope care and knot theory, the seven basic scouts knots along with when and how to use them. Take home cue cards with instructions and information on each knot (great to laminate and carry in your camping kit!), and samples you’ve made of each of the seven knots, ready to post on a Knot Board for your troop! Letterboxing: Unlocking the Mystery

Mosaics, Simple

An introduction to simple mosaics you can make with girls of ages during camp or over a meeting or two. You will make two items to take home. Terra-cotta tray, terra cotta pot, grout, water, newspaper, gloves, string, washers, sponges, butter bowls Plastic beads with a hole to used as decorating piece that will hang from the bottom of the terra cotta pot.

Phidippides' Greek Victory Run

Meet for a group run/walk to commemorate the 26 mile run of Phidippides. Phidippides brought news of a Greek victory over the Persians in 490 B.C. Legend has it that he delivered the momentous message "Niki!" ("victory"), then collapsed and died! We’ll run like Phidippides (but finish like someone else)! Science of Castle Building Every wonder who ancient castles and palaces were built? Come learn the science behind some of these interesting techniques especially the ancient tools used to move large objects. Items to teach and or illustrate the principles and build some models. Silk Screening T-Shirts This class will briefly discuss the basics of silk-screening and the participants will use the equipment to silk screen a t-shirt or item of their choice with a logo featuring this years theme. This is not a drop off, but you may leave as soon as your item has been processed. Screen. paints and any necessary tools, paper to put behind shirt, clothespins and line to hang items. Participant needs to bring t-shirt or other item with a flat blank surface of at least 12' X12". Small tote bags and t-shirts with pockets on the other side do not do well. Bring a hanger for t-shirt to dry afterwards. Make sure you have your name written on item because it will have to dry and be picked up the next morning. 1.5 hrs $3 for first item, $2 for any additional items. Marie Wright

Star Gazing with your Girls

An afternoon session to learn how to take your girls stargazing. Find out "what's up" in the sky on any given night. Learn how to use star charts and how to find your way around the skies by star hopping. Enjoy hearing the tales of ancient gods & goddesses, heroes, warriors & maidens who live on in the winter constellations. Instructor will bring binoculars, star maps, constellation drawings and lots of other handouts will be provided. A solar telescope and special solar glasses will be provided for live solar viewing if skies are clear. Pencil and paper. Small flashlight.
