MOUNTAIN MAGIC LEADER WEEKEND
MEETING MINUTES
Oct. 21, 2010 - 8:00 – 9:00 PM

Attendees via Conference Bridge:  Lianne Griffin, Kippy Shea, Sheila Mills, Kathy Stephan, Frances Parks, Melonie Luxbacher, Marie Wright, Marie Lott, Shannon Glapion, Gail Draper-Vaughn, and Karen McFadden

The meeting this month was held via conference bridge and shortened to one hour since we have our weekend retreat at Becky’s house the 29^th-31^st of October.  We only had committee readouts from a few of the committees, as follows.

Subcommittee Reports

Registration – Marie W

Marie has 52 participants registered thus far, including 23 instructors/committee members. There are several committee members that have not yet registered for the weekend (Kippy, Frances, Carol, Laurie, Gail DV, others?)  Frances advised they would be bringing theirs to Becky’s retreat so they could be turned in together. If you haven’t done so already, please send Marie W your registration form! Note that your “free” registration will be replaced with a “fee” version on 11/14!  Marie W. to provide Lianne a listing of all of the trainers that have not yet registered so that she can send an email reminder.  Lianne to work with Marie W. at Becky’s to start assigning sleeping quarters.  Marie L. requested that Marie W. let her know when classes are full so that she can mark them “CLOSED” on the website.  

Decorations – Frances/Carol

Frances’ daughter was able to get enough decks of cards from the casino boats in LA donated that we should be able to provide one for every attendee. The visors (green) for committee members came in (there are 24) – need Lianne to bring checkbook to Becky’s so she can be reimbursed.  Shannon forwarded the final patch design from Kim to the committee via email (the roulette wheel won). It’s really beautiful – is there any chance that Kim will be coming to the weekend this year so we can appropriately recognize her? Shannon to ask.

Workshops/Trainers/Instructors – Lianne

Workshop locations will not be assigned until registration is closed.

Publicity – Barb Osment

We will need to publicize MM Weekend at the November Cluster and SU meetings. Lianne to send Bebe Joyner a request to send an email blast the first week of November reminding folks of the early bird deadline.

Website – Marie L

A full class descriptions page has been added to the Mountain Magic web site. Marie really appreciates all of the instructors who sent photos. She can continue to add photos, so if you have a crafts class without a photo, you can still send her one for posting .

Planning Committee Fall Retreat – Becky

Our fall retreat is set for October 29-31. Folks should plan to carpool up (no van/driver is available from the council office) – coordinate your rides separately.  Please plan to arrive at Becky’s no earlier than about 6PM Friday evening; send Becky an email to let her know what approximate time you will be arriving.

Kippy coordinated the meals for the weekend – THANKS! (see separate email from Kippy). You should plan to get with the other folks assigned to your meal to plan the menu and figure out who’s going to bring what, etc.  Saturday evening, Mary will offer her sushi class, but we need to have an alternate meal available for those that do not eat sushi (Kathy, Sheila, Frances, others?)

Kippy and Marie L will NOT be coming to the weekend. Who else isn’t coming?

If you are planning to take Mary’s sushi class, please bring $3 and the following: A small bowl – like a Pyrex (6 oz), cutting board at least a foot long and wide and cutting knife (medium length), apron.

If you are planning to take Gail’s Pine Cone Flowers and Ornaments class, please bring $3 and the following: glue guns and sticks, pruning shears, scissors, tweezers, some paint, brushes, trim/embellishments, can of clear spray or varnish.  Gail has cut enough cones, and has spray painted the cans. She also has some little trims but you should bring some too. She has the ribbon and the snowman’s scarves and hats, and some little tiny bows for the wreaths or bulb, and some tiny clear sparkly Stars for the tree. She also made the ins. booklet so you can share this with your troops or friends.

Directions to Becky’s house have been emailed to all committee members with these minutes.

Our next meeting will be on November 18^th at Moe’s, N. Druid Hills. At 7PM.
