Lisa Wust
is here and has news! She’s expecting a baby March 15th.
Kippy
reported about the retreat at Becky’s (Nov. 13-15): 14 people confirmed (not
coming – Barb, Kathy, Marsha, Marie, Coleen).
Riding on
the bus with Lisa: Carol, Frances, Diane, Laurie, Sheila, Karen M?
Gail/Melonie riding together; Lianne/Kippy riding together; Fatima arriving
later; Shannon & baby will arrive separately (Karen M may drive – TBD).
We’ll need to get driving directions from Becky again.
Meals: Fri
night – eat on your own; Sat B - TBD, Sat L – eat out; Sat D – TBD, Sun Brunch –
Sheila+3. Kippy will be emailing this week to get folks signed up to lead a
meal. Teams of 4 people will be responsible for planning menu, shopping for
supplies, and cooking/cleanup at the weekend. Becky and Lisa will be exempt from
Kapers at the weekend (thanks!!)
Everyone
attending the retreat should bring personal gear/toiletries, sleeping
bag/pillow, cot/blow-up beds (optional), personal craft supplies/swap
supplies/costume supplies (optional).
Lisa to
check to see if Mary is getting rid of any of her fish stuff – to use as
decorations, etc.
Shannon to
offer jewelry making class at the retreat weekend – she’ll send out supply list
with price. (She’ll need count of
those who want to participant by next Thursday).
If you choose not to do jewelry class, can take hike or work on own
craft. Results from the patch votes
– Oyster was the winner! Kim has asked for color suggestions. We liked
turquoise/salmon/pearl tone/sand colors.
Do we have slogan preference? “Making a Splash at Mountain Magic 2010”
Barb – Barb
will work up sample menus and present at the next meeting. Anyone that has
suggestions or comments, please email Barb between now and the next meeting.
Sheila – is
working on make-n-takes. She’ll be bringing books to share during the weekend.
She’ll also have some craft stuff, small games, and a big fish puzzle. She has
BINGO sheets and is making glitter fish to add to their nametags as prizes.
She is now working on graces.
Frances –
will be working on some decorations at Becky’s house. Nothing new to report.
Gail –
absent.
Kathy –
Sheila is bringing the Sizzix to Becky’s to make fish cutouts that could be used
in a scrapbook as a gift instead. We have all the envelopes already – bring to
the MM weekend.
Diane – has
plenty of the keychain/flashlight/whistle/compass to use as doorprizes. She’ll
have final list of awards at the next meeting.
Fatima –
absent.
Marsha –
nothing new to report.
Melonie –
nothing new to report.
Laurie -
nothing new to report. Lisa advised there are extras of the GS logo signs
available – she provided 6 signs to the committee. Laurie will use reflective
tape to add directional arrows.
Coleen –
talked with Stephanie Berg (website designer). If we get her the registration
form in Word format, she can post to council website. Coleen to check if Excel
would work? The information packet and the 1st page are Word
documents, but the class choice pages are Excel – then Lianne combines and
converts to pdf.
Karen – has
lots of gifts. Last chance to bring gifts will be Becky’s retreat or December
meeting.
Diane (via
email) asked about carpooling. We’re
encouraging that in the information packet, but are we doing anything to help
facilitate it? We wondered if there were some way we could include on our
website or some way for folks to email each other to see if anybody is
interested in carpooling. Marsha agreed to ask Marie about a possible blog on
our website; she’ll also investigate setting up a Facebook fan site that would
facilitate participants connecting with one another prior to the weekend. She’ll
report out next meeting (really!)
The
conference bridge worked well this month. The Nov. meeting will be canceled due
to the retreat at Becky’s house. We
will offer the December meeting as a conference bridge and in person again.
We’ll need Coleen or Lisa to get us the phone for the Dec. meeting.
Lianne will send out the bridge number with the meeting reminder.
Our next meeting will be December 17th at 7PM at the VSC in
the Junior Room (or via conference bridge).
