Dear Mountain Magic Leader Weekend Participant,

We’re looking forward to seeing you January 23rd – 25th as you join fellow Adult Girl Scout volunteers for our CSI-MM Mystery Weekend!  We guarantee a fun-filled weekend where you’ll learn lots of new things to share with the Girl Scouts you work with.   Your personalized class schedule has been provided and reflects the classes you selected for the weekend, along with the associated class fees.  Please be sure to visit our website right away and PRINT ALL OF THE DETAILED ATTENDEE INFORMATION in our Participant Information Packet.

 This packet includes the following:

  • This Welcome Letter
  • Generic packing list
  • Map to camp
  • Weekend agenda
  • Reminder – Self Addressed Stamped Envelope (large + two Forever 1st class stamps)

Don’t forget to bring the supplies listed for your classes (listed on your personalized class schedule which was emailed to you) or your costume for the mystery fashion show and parade on Saturday evening!

REMINDER: Alcohol, drugs, and weapons are prohibited on Girl Scout property.  Smoking is only in designated areas. Pets are also prohibited (other than service animals).

Check-in for weekend participants is 5:00 – 9:00 PM Friday night (Saturday Night attendees may check in from 7:30 – 9:00 AM Saturday morning).  Please contact Lianne Griffin at 770-621-9043 if you will be arriving at a different time than your designated time.  Remember to bring CASH ONLY for your class fees at check-in (exact change, please)!  We are almost at capacity this year, and we urge you to carpool as parking is very limited; please park only in designated paved spaces.  Please do not arrive earlier than 5 PM as we may not be ready for you.  Some campers choose to stop at the outlet mall at Exit 312 (great if you want to beat the Atlanta traffic Friday afternoon and need to kill some time!)  Please eat dinner before you come or bring a sack dinner with you.  A microwave will be available if you would like to warm your food.  There are no restaurants near camp, so as you exit I-75, be sure to stop close to the exit ramps for dinner.  There are several fast food restaurants at Exit 306, Exit 312, or Exit 315 (for those coming from the North, sorry, but we aren’t sure what’s available at Exit 326!).

Beds were assigned with special needs considered.  Mobility impaired persons have been reserved a lower bunk bed.  Every bed has been assigned; there are no “spare” beds.  You will NOT be allowed to change beds unless you “swap” with another person, and both of you will need to check with Lianne at the check-in station to update your bed assignment (necessary for emergency information).  Your personalized email lists what temperature/schedule your cabin has been assigned.  PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY and bring extra blankets, a personal fan, earplugs/eyeshades, etc. so you will be comfortable.  We ask that you NOT adjust the thermostat in your unit during the weekend; it will be set to the temperature designated.  Please remember that we are all Girl Scout sisters, and do your best to be considerate of other campers (tip-toe/whisper after lights out and use your flashlight, don’t hog the bathrooms, etc.)

Remember that cell phones DO NOT typically work at Misty Mountain.  Once you cross the mountain, there is no cellular service (Verizon, AT&T/Cingular, or Metro PCS).  A pay telephone is available at the pool at camp, but communication with family members may be limited unless you cross back over the mountain.  We consider this a FEATURE of the weekend!  The emergency phone number (for the camp ranger) is (706) 629-1969 in the unlikely event that family members need to reach you during the weekend.

If there is a problem with your personalized class schedule or personal information, please contact Lianne Griffin at 770-621-9043 NO LATER THAN 01/21/09 to have changes made before you come to camp!!

We have shared any food allergies or special dietary needs you indicated on your registration form with our cooks and will have suitable options for most people, but please check out our menu and plan accordingly if this will not accommodate your specific dietary needs. Fully equipped kitchens are available in each of the units, but remember to clean up after yourself. Remember that the only communal food is on the snack table in the dining hall….food in the cabin refrigerators are not for general consumption.  If you bring your own food, please label it and store it in the cabin main room/refrigerator (no food to be stored in sleeping areas).

We plan to provide everyone a roster of weekend attendees.  If the contact information we show in your personalized email is incorrect or you don’t wish to have this information shared with the other participants, please contact Lianne at 770-621-9043 or lianne@3leaves.org by 01/21/09 (feel free to leave a message on my answering machine if you do not reach me directly and I’ll get back with you ASAP).

Lastly, did you remember to include your Health History Form with your registration?  If so, THANKS! If not, we recommend you avoid an extended stay with our camp First Aider at check-in.  A blank form is available at the Volunteer Service Center or you may download one from our website.   Please bring it with you to camp, completed, to avoid quarantine!!

SEE YOU AT MISTY MOUNTAIN!
