Welcome and Introductions In attendance were Lianne Griffin, Marie Lott, Marsha Sussman, Shannon Glapion, Frances Parks, Karen McFadden, Cris Agustin, Terry Otto and Kippy Shea.
Team assembled registration packets for the SU Neighborhood meetings.
Team reviewed the Committees and agreed on the following:
- Registration/Admin Lianne Griffin (chair) Lianne has finalized registration forms and Marie has posted to the website. Separate forms are available for Planning Committee, staff/trainers, and participants (to reflect different prices).
- Check-In Karen McFadden (chair) Karen to see if she can get greeters for the parking lot to direct campers to the dining hall. She will get 5 different colored dots to put on the nametags to indicate who has dining hall kapers at each meal.
- Set-up Laurie Hackworth (chair) Laurie has received the kapers list from Ranger LaMotte and would like for the sub-committee to plan to get together following the next meeting (10/27) or someday before, if that's possible. We need to discuss how we'll make up the Kaper Charts and who would like to do them. Team suggested that a paragraph be included in confirmation letter that outlines kaper responsibilities for the weekend. Laurie to work with Terry Otto to come up with appropriate verbiage for Lianne.
- Participant Check-Out Kathy Stephan (chair) no update.
- Unit Check-Out Shannon Glapion (chair) no update.
- Entertainment Terry Otto (chair) Terry is working on "jungle tune" graces. Shell put words on posterboard, too. Kathy Stephan reported via email that she has 2 leopard belts, leopard blouse and a blouse with zebras on it. They are too small for her but they might fit some of the other committee members if anyone is interested in them. She will bring them to the Oct. meeting.
- Decorations Frances Parks (chair) Necklaces are complete and green curtains have been purchased. Carol Townleys troop made vines using paper bags and green foam leaves. Frances also has a fountain that plays jungle noises. Committee investigating glow sticks or glow necklaces for luminary bags in case of rain (leading from parking lot to dining hall for check-in). Frances has two large tribal masks to hang in dining hall. Kathy Stephan reported via email that she was able to pick up a bunch of table top games (1-2 players) like you would find at Cracker Barrel using golf tees or marbles, also 3 Barrel of Monkeys games, couple of other checkers/chess type games. These can just be set around for anyone to play with during free time or in the evenings. She also obtained several stuffed Jungle animals to place around the main building. She will bring them to the Oct. meeting.
- Meals/Snacks - Terry Otto (chair) menu options not available from Jill tonight; Terry will forward options to us as soon as she gets them so we can vote on the menu by next meeting. Frances suggested we call the snack table the "Yum Yum Table."
- Workshops/Trainers Kippy Shea (chair) Still need to confirm instructors for Knots & Strings, Lashing, and Learning While Serving (Lianne added to schedule without confirmation). Also, working with Laurie to resolve overscheduling of her classes (looking for alternate instructor for beads class). Otherwise, this is complete for 2006. Marsha indicated she would prefer to not teach on Sunday. Lianne contacted Rosalie Baine and Rosalie has agreed to teach What Instead of Screaming on Sun. AM.. Terry Otto forwarded email from Martina Gibboney to Lianne where Martina indicated several "skills" she was willing to share. Lianne contacted Martina, and we have added a Home Decorating class and an Etiquette class to the class list.
- Door Prizes/Gifts - Cris Agustin (chair) Cris is still collecting door prizes. Cris is getting the lucky bamboo for the trainers.
- First Aid Team Marsha Sussman (chair) Marsha still needs to give Cintas information to Diane Loupe so she can send a thank-you letter for the first aid kit from the committee.
- Publicity NEED COMMITTEE CHAIR. Diane Loupe created a poster (8.5x11) advertising the Metro 3 registration forms. One poster was put on a box holding blank registration forms; this will be put in the resource room. Terry to pdf the flier and send to the council website to post under "Upcoming Events" (like Cobb Leader Weekend and Gwinnett Leader Weekend). Frances will post a couple of posters at the Convention and Marie will take a poster to Cobb Leader weekend, too.
- Website Marie Lott (chair) website is up and registration forms are posted! Online registration works, too. Participants may pay using Pay Pal or credit cards online. They will still print out the registration form for their class selections this year. See
