Countdown to the End of the Year

We’re checking things off our list one by one.  On Friday Callie, Laura, and Maria took our bears, bunnies, and other critters over to Fire Station 19.  The firefighters were good sports about having several pictures taken, now we need a volunteer to put the pictures from the camping trip on a CD together with the ones in Laura’s camera from yesterday, and send it all to Teri Otto at the Council.  She will love having word of our project, and the Council needs documented projects like these for national publicity.  Who knows, we may see ourselves in the Leader magazine!

Saturday the Laws and Pat attended the Gold Award Ceremony, and we’re happy to report that it went a little faster this year – all done under two hours.  Everything was very nice as always, and the parking is much easier at Southern Polytechnic than downtown.

Sunday was bridging day.  Karen was welcomed as an Adult Girl Scout, and it was especially nice to have Rossie and Anne among the welcomers.  Callie, Crystal, and Laura received their Ten-Year Pins, and all four photographed the ceremony and took plenty of candid shots at the reception as our service project for the Photography IPP.  Karen has volunteered to put those shots on a CD and send them on to our Service Unit Director.  Special thanks to Mrs. Lott for not forgetting we were supposed to bring a cheese tray.

Note to College Students

We would love to know what you are doing this summer and when you’ll be home.  Send us an Email either from our website or to pat_callaway@bellsouth.net.  We know that Anne is home and working this summer, but Diana won’t be home until after July 4 because of a Stanford Band trip to Spain and North Africa!  More news as we get it!

Let’s Plan a Gold Award Paperwork Day

Of the girls who are working on the Gold Award, Maria is the next in line because she will be a senior next year, so we really need for Maria to pick a day that fits Maria and Pat’s schedules.  When we get a date, if Callie, Crystal, and Laura can also come and work on their paperwork, it will be a good thing.  The more you can do before your senior year, the easier it is to finish.  Believe it or not, some girls finish in their Junior years!  Also, if you’re going to apply for the Gold Award scholarships, you need to be done by February 1 of your senior year so that you can get yet more paperwork turned in by the February due date.
