February 4, 2004
Our next meeting is February 6th

Cookie Orders Are Due Feb 4th

We will have two Kroger cookie booths at the Embry Hills Kroger. The first is scheduled for Sunday March 14, 1-4 PM; the other is Monday March 15, 4-7 PM. Check you calendars to see which one works best for you.

February 6, 2004 Meeting

We’re expecting Terry Otto to help us train for our Bridging Ceremony on May 9, and it will be fun to have her there as we award our Presidential Student Service Awards.  Seven of our girls did more than 100 hours of service in 2002 for various community and cultural organizations.  Seven of our girls did more than 100 hours of service in 2002 for various community and cultural organizations. The recipients are

Evelyn for dancing with the Decatur City Dance Company
Jenny for singing with The Young Singers of Callanwolde
Diana for playing with the DeKalb Youth Orchestra
Tabby for volunteering with Fernbank Museum
Stephanie for playing with the DeKalb Youth Orchestra
Christina for playing with the DeKalb Youth Orchestra
Anne for volunteering with the Junior Zoo Crew

We will also work on plans for our camping trip February 27-29  at Camp Meriwether.  We will need to plan our Girl Scout Birthday Party for our March meeting and make some decisions about our April 30-May 2 camping trip.  Since we missed our chance to get in to Misty Mountain, perhaps we should stay at the nearby state park and do our activities at Misty Mountain.  Never let it be said that we give up easily!

Don’t forget your Pax Lodge payment ($400 per girl; $515 per adult).  The Callaway postal service should have brought you the new packet and new forms to fill out.  Please bring them to the meeting.

Gold Award Update

Chandler and Anne are finished!  They will turn in their paperwork and deliver their projects to Coralwood School on February 3.  Evie is waiting for approval from the Council.  Rossie and Elizabeth have thought up an exciting project and are about ready to turn in their project proposals.  They’ll tell us about it at the meeting.

Adult Volunteer Camping Trip in January

Two of your trusty advisors (Callaway and Lott) went to the DCNR Weekend January 24-25, which was really fun – thanks in large part to Terri Otto.  They have come back with new skills to share with you:  pysanky, painted gourd birdhouses, tea parties, and more pond skills.  We’ll show you our Ukranian Easter Eggs (Pysanky) at the meeting.

February Camping Trip – February 27-29

Camp Meriwether is confirmed.  Now we need to plan our weekend!

March 12, 2004 Meeting

This meeting may need to be held without Pat who needs to be at a concert in LaGrange.  Maybe we should have a Girl Scout Birthday Party.  Who would like to plan it?

April 16, 2004 Meeting

For some of our girls, this will be their last official Girl Scout meeting.  Heavy thought!  Still we will have so much to do to finish our plans for the May Service Unit Bridging that we probably won’t have time to be sad.

April Camping Trip – April 30-May 2

We couldn’t get the Farmhouse at Misty Mountain, so we are confirmed for Camp Meriwether again.  Although maybe we'll goo tent camping at The Pocket, a state campsite down the road from Camp Misty Mountain. Then we could have some day activities at CMM after all!  We’ll need to make swaps for the Pax Lodge trip and finalizing our Bridging Ceremony plans.

May 9, 2004 - Service Unit Bridging at St. Bede’s

Yes, we know that it’s Mother’s Day.

Pax Lodge June 5-15, 2004

Alas, we’ve lost Jenny to the Young Singers trip to Paris to sing before the First Lady of France.  We’ll miss her a lot!  Everybody who is going on the Big Trip remembered the December payments. Here’s the rest of the payment schedule for ready reference:
