What's a Sponsor Troop?

Our troop is helping sponsor Sarah Henson and Joey Carter who have been selected to represent the Girl Scouts of the USA at the Juliette Low Seminar 2000 "DREAM, DARE, DO – LEADING THE WAY" in Pune, India at the Sangam World Center August 28th - September 8th. Sarah and Joey are both young adult Girl Scouts in the Girl Scout Council of Northwest Georgia.

As one of the sponsor troops we can:

• Send swaps to a World Swap Meet. Troops can make swaps, each inscribed with a girl's name and street or email address to be traded at Sangam.  Sarah and Joey will distribute these swaps among Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from 22 different countries.  We can make new friends from around the world!
• Send supplies to the Sangam World Center. The following items would be especially useful as they are not available in India or are of poor quality: Paper Clips, Staples No. 16 (24/6), Metallic Markers (silver and gold), Glue Sticks (clear), Blue Tac, Hanging Files (foolscap size), A4 lamination pouches.
• Learn about the trip through the eyes of the participants. Sponsor troops will receive a copy of Joey & Sarah's personal travel journals. They have already started compiling a "how to" list for Wider Opportunities and international travel.  Details of their trip will be recorded each day.  Exotic travels could be in store for us as Senior & Adult Girl Scouts!
• Participate in an International Fun Day after the trip.  The day will be filled with stories, pictures, and activities from India, as well as information about travel opportunities for Girl Scouts.
