Meeting Notes: September
12,
2008 -
- Sarah and Elizabeth provided
the most scrumptious corned beef, brussel sprouts, and baked potatoes for
dinner. Many, many thanks!
- In attendance were Rose, Anna,
Sarah, Allie, and Sara.
- We focused on choosing a silver
award project and decided to pursue doing a toy drive for a hospital pediatric
cancer center.
- We chose four possible hospitals
and split up tasks around scheduling meetings at those hospitals to "pitch"
the idea.
- We also discussed other activities
and tasks involved in the project and concluded that if we are to get everything
done before the end of the school year, we need some more meetings. So,
we have schedule an extra work session on Saturday, October 4 from 3 -
6 pm at Elizabeth's house. We will develop a Powerpoint presentation for
our hospital pitch and discuss appointment progress.
- Due to some scheduling conflicts,
there are a few changes to our meeting schedule. The October meeting will
now be Friday, 10/24 instead of 10/10. The November meeting will move from
11/14 to 11/21, and the December meeting will move from 12/12 to 12/19.
- The Reids are responsible for
dinner at the 10/24 meeting.

Meeting Notes: August
22,
2008 -
- Allie
and Tracy provided dinner of lasagna, garlic bread (with some cheese),
and salad.
- In attendance were Rose, Anna,
Sarah, Allie, and Imani.
- We had
much to talk about. Aside from catching up from the summer, we talked about
our Silver Award. Each girl confirmed that she wants to earn her Silver
Award and we all agreed that the troop wants to do a single, troop project,
rather than individual projects. All we
have left is the Project, itself.
- We discussed many project ideas and each girl took an assignment to research a specific project or project type.
- We also talked about bridging to Seniors, which we will do in May. So, we have to finish our project by then.
- The troop agreed to sell cookies
this year. We will focus on booth sales, rather than individual sales.
The parents who were in attendance for the parent meeting agreed to this
and agreed to manage the project as a team. As a result, Tracy will be
the Cookie Parent and will attend the training.
- At the November meeting, we will have another
parent meeting at 7:30 at which we will assign jobs and discuss where and
how many booth sales to hold.
- We also conducted our rededication. Each girl
talked about the line from the Girl Scout Law that meant the most to her.
It was casual, but very powerful
and reaffirming. These girls are truly dedicated to Girl Scouts and each
other!
- Finally, the girls said that they would like to go to a corn maze in October,
maybe even at night, but not during a haunting! Also, we are interested in
attending Girl Scout Day at the Braves on Sunday, September 7, at 1:35. Tracy
will follow up.
- The parents met and offered their support of
the girls as we work on our Project, were pleased with the thought that
we would bridge to Seniors in
May, agreed to the cookie plan, agreed to continuing dinner and social rotation,
and
said
they'd
think
about
the
game.
