Daisy Girl Scout Troop 24425
Atlanta, Georgia

Our girls come from Midvale & Henderson Mill Elementary Schools in the Tucker area of Northlake.

What a year 2003 has been!  These daisies have been as busy as bees. They have had a wonderful combination of fun and learning. Our girls have visited Washington Farms, Stone Mountain Park, and the Georgia World Congress Center for the Festival of Trees. From hayrides and corn mazes to a train ride of lights to trees galore, our daisies have been there, done that, seen it all. See how much fun we had by looking in our photo album. Their earning potential has been unmatched as well, with already earning the Violet, Purple, Spring Green, Rose petals and many various fun patches adorning their smocks.

What does 2004 bring? Well…..where do we begin? January is a month reserved for a history lesson about a great leader, Martin Luther King Jr. Our troop has plans to visit The King Center on January 24th, 2004. The cost of the trip? FREE! Although, we encourage anyone to bring a sack lunch or money for lunch and souvenirs. Black History Month is in February, but I think that we’ll have a better chance of enjoying the site around the time of his birthday. February brings with it a visit to our local firestation, No. 19 on Mercer University Drive. We are going to visit the station on February 21st, 2004. Learning about Fire Safety is very important to anyone and we’ll get a first hand look at the operation of the firehouse. The cost of this trip? FREE again. March is a month of even more fun when we visit ZooAtlanta. The trip is scheduled for March 20th, 2004. The cost: $16.50 (adults) and $11.50 (kids), under 2 are free. Sack lunch is a maybe for this trip as well.

Along with all the fun trips we have planned, we also have a lot of Petals and fun patches we can earn. January is a month we earn the Light Blue petal. February we earn the Magenta Petal. March we earn the Orange and Yellow petals. Our girls are also going to have the chance to get the “Black History Month” and “GSUSA Celebrate Diversity” patches provided by the Girl Scout Store. Our girls have already earned the following petals: Violet, Purple, Spring Green, andRose.

It’s Cookie Time! Brownie Troop 23434 is selling cookies beginning at the end of January. Purchasing cookies from the troop will help them with their future endeavors as well as the Daisy’s future endeavors….the two will merge next year and any troop money merges with it to help all the girls.

Oh the places we’ll go

We want to give the girls the best possible experience as a Girl Scout that they could possibly receive. One of the many ways to enrich a young girl is by presenting to her things she has never seen before (or at least not seen that often). There is an abundance of places to go in the metro Atlanta area, but not all of these places are geared towards the education and enrichment of a child. I have listed only a few websites to these places above, but we will see so much more. We have the following list compiled for your viewing pleasure, but please feel free to add to it: Yellow River Game Ranch, Cagle’s Dairy Farm, Chattahoochee Nature Center, Zoo Atlanta, Botanical Gardens, Children’s Museum, American Adventures, Six Flags, Sci-Trek, Fernbank, Stone Mountain Park, Etowah Indian Mounds, Martin Luther King Jr. Center, White Water, Cyclorama, Lake Allatoona, Lake Lanier, Atlanta Opera, Atlanta Dance Theatre, Centennial Park.
