Brownie Girl Scout Troop 23434

Atlanta/Tucker, Georgia

What a year 2003 has been! Our Brownies have been busy as bees. They have taken in a wealth of fun and learning. Our girls have visited Washington Farms, Stone Mountain Park and the Georgia World Congress Center for the Festival of Trees. From Hayrides and corn mazes to a train ride of lights to trees galore, our brownies have seen it all. See how much fun we had by looking in our photo album. The Brownies' earning potential has been unmatched as well, with three Try-its any many various patches adorning their vests.

It's Cookie Time!

Yes, that's right, you guessed it. It is time for cookies. I know that every time someone hears that I am a troop leader, the first question I get is -- "Can I buy some cookies from you?" or "When ya' selling cookies?" It is inevitable. Girl Scouts are known for the 4 C's. Community, Camping, Crafts and COOKIES. January is when the training takes place. By the end of January, cookie sales will be in full swing and orders will be taken as fast as people will give 'em. Sales will continue through February and booth sales will begin March 10th. So, you see, there is every opportunity to guy some boxes of cookies through these months. Our troop will have their training on the January 22nd meeting. BUY BUY BUY .... SELL SELL SELL .... the cookie sales provide our troop with the funds it needs to do even more fun stuff!

  • .Parents! Hey, don't forget to turn in your Family Partnership Campaign monies before the January deadline.

  • We are in the process of trying to think of a service project that we could get our hands on. Everyone, put your thinking caps on and send some ideas our way.

  • Co-Leaders: Don't forget...the Service Unit Meetings are the second Tuesday of every month. Make it a point to attend these, they are informative and fun

What does 2004 bring?  Well....where do I begin? January is a month reserved for a history lesson about a great leader, Martin Luther King Jr.  Our troop has plans to visit the MLK Center on January 24th. The cost of the trip? FREE! Although, I encourage anyone to bring a sack lunch or money for lunch and souvenirs. Black History Month is in February, but I think that we'll have a better chance of enjoying the site around the time of his birthday. February brings with it a trip to our local fire station, No. 19 on Mercer University Drive. We are going to visit the station on February 21st. Learning about Fire Safety is very important to everyone and we'll get a first hand look at the operations of a firehouse. The cost of this trip? FREE again. March is a month of even more fun when we visit Zoo Atlanta. The trip is scheduled for March 20th, 2004. The cost: $16.50 (adults) and $11.50 (kids), under 2 is free. Sack lunch is a maybe for this trip as well.

Along with all the fun trips we have planned, we also have a lot of Try-its and fun patches we can earn. January is the month we earn the Her Story and the Listening to the Past Try-its. February our girls earn the Safety Sense and the All in the Family Try-its. March is when they earn the Cookies Count and the Write Away Try-its. Our girls also have the chance to get the "Black History Month" and "GSUSA Celebrate Diversity" patches provided by the Girl Scout Store.
